Do I Need Planning Permission for a Ruby Garage?

Do You Need Planning Permission for a Ruby Garage?

In many cases, a detached garage does not require planning permission in the UK, as it can fall under permitted development. However, there are key rules around height, location, and size that must be followed.

General Criteria

To stay within permitted development, your garage must be positioned behind the main front wall of the house, must not cover more than 50% of the land around the property, and should be used for incidental purposes such as storage or parking rather than living space.

General Criteria

Height Criteria

In terms of height, it must not exceed 2.5m if within 2 metres of a boundary, or 3m for a flat roof and 4m for a pitched roof if positioned further away

Our Timber Garage Range

We offer a range of high-quality timber garages, including both single garages for everyday storage and parking and double garages for added space and flexibility.

Our garages are available with a choice of roofing finishes, including corrugated sheet, cedar shingles, slate, and standing seam, ensuring there is a roofing option that suits your project.

You can also choose from a selection of timber options, including pressure-treated softwood, larch, and oak, giving you flexibility in appearance, pricing, and overall finish
