Gravel Boards
An extremely important factor to consider when fencing is making sure that the fence doesn’t meet the floor so the timber can soak up all the moisture contents. This increases the chances of rot and shorter lifespan. Gravel board helps to stop this as it is positioned at the bottom of the fence, bridging the gap between floor and fence. Ultimately, this protects the fence and keeps it in top condition. Our gravel boards are made from either a spruce/larch mix or a composite material and do a really great job of protecting your fences against the elements providing them with many more years of life and increased quality. Not only does it do that but also helps the structure, creating a more durable, dependable fence that will be able to withstand the harsh weathers for longer. Closing the gap at the bottom, these boards will help to create a seamless and tidy finish as well as increase the privacy and not allowing small pests the come through at the bottom. In terms of our timber gravel boards, they are available in sizes of 4”x1”, 6”x1” and 6”x2”. The 6”x2” gravel board is available in either a rough sawn or planed finish and so they will match your fencing depending on the finish of your cladding boards. It may be that there is a small gap between the fence and floor and so the smaller size of 4”x1” is more suitable and will look much better and streamlined compared to the others. All our timber gravel boards are pressure treated using a green tanalith pressure treatment and this is to help with the fight against rot and decay making sure that they are resistant to these elements. Then we have our Durapost composite material which we feel is the better option to use and best suited to gravel board as it will not soak up any moisture contents and can be wiped off easily due to the plastic like, smooth surface. Easy to install due to the lightweight properties, Durapost gravel board will last for up to 25 years, protecting the bottom of your fences and helping to provide a durable and robust structure.
