A new and exclusive range of timber cladding that has been designed and developed known as IRO. It’s inspired by the Japanese process of Shou Sugi Ban and also known as Yakisugi which is a wood preservation method where the wood is burned until charred, before being coated with natural oils. The results are simply stunning and purely unique, adding charm, character, and a modern feeling to your spaces. An 100% eco-friendly product that is heat enhanced and coated in Rubio Monocoat cream, creating a more durable and striking product with beautiful grains and colours. In addition to being a low-maintenance and long-lasting alternative to traditional cladding, it is UV stable and 100% HVOC-free, meaning that the cladding is both child and pet friendly. Manufactured using a 7-step process which includes two stages of kiln drying and heat enhancement making the product more resistant to rot and insect attack.
We really do love this type of cladding here at Ruby because of the different options that are available when using IRO. You may wish to install the boards vertically, horizontally, or even diagonally and can be matched with IRO decking. In terms of colours and styles, we have available Mountain, Driftwood and Charcoal which all create a different feeling and mood. In terms of maintaining your IRO cladding, it’s a very low maintenance timber material because of the water repellent, self-cleaning surface ensuring that moisture levels are not altered, and any dirt or dust will simply wash away. If over time however, you start to see that it does need a wash, a hose and sponge is sufficient in cleaning the surface. Please do not use a high-pressure washer as this can affect and alter the protective layers within the wood. To help with the preservation of IRO cladding, we would strongly recommend using IRO touch up cream. Available to purchase at Ruby, the cream has been specially developed to protect any exposed timber arising from cutting, drilling or notching IRO timber during the installation of your IRO project. It can also be used to restore or touch up areas of damage, or repair any marks created by general wear and tear. Raindrops slide off the wood immediately and on their way down, taking with them whatever dust is on it. It will therefore take much longer for the vertical wood to look dirty.
