Rough Sawn Homegrown Larch
As part of our Larch cladding collection, we have available homegrown rough sawn in sizes of 2”x1”, 4”x1” and 6”x1”. Our homegrown larch rough sawn timber is a more cost-effective option but does not compromise in terms of quality. Its susceptible to small defects such as knots and open grains but this only adds to the character and charm of the wood which many customers prefer. Large amounts of this species are grown within our home County of Devon, largely reducing our carbon footprint. The quality of our rough sawn larch is extremely high with nice visible grains and colours as well as smooth edges all around the boards. It’s a great modern timber that is really desired currently due to the modern and contemporary style it provides. The perfect cladding for all outdoor buildings such as sheds, garages, offices and exterior walls of homes.
These boards create an eye-catching finish with the golden/pale yellow colours that are found in the grains whilst also providing a strong and durable structure that ensures a long life. Larch is known as one of the most hardwearing and durable softwoods available that is also naturally rot resistant and therefore does not need pressure treated. They can be installed vertically and horizontally depending on your preference and is a simple process to carry out.
It is a well-known fact that the UV rays from the sun can cause homegrown Larch to turn from its beautiful golden yellow colours to a silvery grey finish. We would therefore highly recommend using Osmo Larch UV Protection Oil to keep the natural colours within the wood. The highly effective oil will optimally match the pigments of the wood, whilst also regulating moisture levels, minimising swelling, and shrinkage. It reduces algae, mildew and fungal with its water and rot resistant properties and creates a breathable clear finish that doesn’t crack, flake or peel. It is recommended that you apply Osmo stains every 12 weeks with two coats to help keep boards in immaculate condition. It’s important to consider the direction that your cladding is facing as this will help to determine the number of regular maintenance checks and coats of UV Protection oil needed.
