All side gates are made to order and treated individually with care and attention to detail ensuring they meet our quality control teams standards but most importantly, yours. We have every style available from our Highhampton driveway gates to our Cottage and Shebbear gates. You may also like to use a Diamond Brace or Exbourne gate as a driveway side gate in a small size and can be a really effective way to fill the whole of the entrance. All of our gates are pressure treated meaning a long life and resistance to rot. The driveway side gates are reliable, enduring and strong offering a hardwearing solution to your home entrance problems.

Similar to our driveway gates, we use a Joinery Grade Scandinavian Redwood for our tongue and groove boards and rough sawn featheredge boards. In terms of the diamond brace gates, they are made from larch and the Exbourne gates made from a kiln dried Scandinavian Redwood. The tongue and groove boards have been pressure treated using a green pressure Lonza treatment. The featheredge boards have been tanalith pressure treated as well as the Exbourne gates and Diamond Brace. Ultimately, all of our gates are durable and long lasting so shop with ease. All joints are mortise & tenon, pre-cut and glued with all edges sanded down and planed to keep the finish up to a high standard. To help with those finishing touches, Ruby UK highly recommend using Osmo Clear Stain to help with the up keeping of the gate. The stain will keep the natural colour of the wood whilst preserving it by regulating moisture levels. Don’t forget we can also make a bespoke driveway side gate just for you at any width or length depending on what you need.

To help with the installation process, we have matched the ironmongery needed to hang your side gates correctly. In terms of the gate post needed, we recommend using a 1.8m 4”x 4” for any side gate up to 5ft or for any gate in excess of 5ft, we would propose using a 2.4m 4”x 4”. In terms of the hangings and fixings needed, we would recommend a side gate kit which includes a pair of 18” strong Tee Hinges, 1 straight ring latch and 1 pad bolt to secure the gate in place. A drop bolt is also recommended to secure the gate shut.
