Scandinavian Redwood Shiplap Tongue & Groove Cladding

As part of our Scandinavian Redwood cladding collection, Shiplap Tongue and Groove is a very popular profile, perfect for structures such as sheds and summer houses due to the clean stylish look that it provides whilst also implementing a watertight structure. The profile is a mix between shiplap and tongue and groove boards with the groove on one side and then the lap on the other side. The word 'shiplap' originates from when wooden boards with an overlap structure were once used to make ships thus creating a weatherproof solution which is now known as cladding. The traditional look of the boards and the overlapping features creates shadow lines beneath producing an interesting and pleasant look.

Our Scandinavian Redwood Shiplap Tongue and Groove cladding is treated using a green pressure Lonza treatment and a 15 year TREAT RIGHT warranty is included highlighting the fact that these boards are long lasting, rot resistant and durable, ideal for the harsh English weather. In terms of the instalment process, it's very much stress free due to the lightweight features of the cladding and interlocking system in place. At Ruby, to help with the instalment of our shiplap tongue and groove cladding, we have available 50mm nails to purchase suitable for all our cladding range. When installing your cladding, we recommend starting at the bottom and working your way up. Try to make sure your first board at the bottom is exactly level as this will make the rest of the job much easier and more efficient. Make sure you don't nail the lapping of the board as this can cause the board to split. The basic tools needed to install your shiplap includes a Saw, Level, nails and hammer.

Why not try using Osmo Stains on your boards to help keep them in immaculate condition. The stains will help to keep the natural colours and grains involved in the boards by using pigments which match the woods natural characteristics. As well as this, the application of the stain will stop the boards from swelling, rotting, or shrinking. All Osmo stains are dirt and water-resistant.
