The perfect way to add those finishing touches to your fencing is by using capping rail. Adding something different to your fence, the capping rail is attached to the top of the fence in between the fence posts to create a neat and seamless finish. As well as increasing the overall design, capping rail will help to drain the rainwater and stop it from sitting at the top of the fence. The water will run off due to the dome like shapes and stop the timber fencing from soaking it up and potentially helping to cause the fence to rot and decay quicker. The capping rail will help to seal all the boards together and increase the overall durability of the fencing. These capping rails can be installed using 50mm nails which will secure the rail onto the fencing boards and will last for many years due to the tanalith pressure treatment that has occurred to our timber capping. Overall, these provide the perfect accessory to help create your perfect fencing.
We have three different types of fence capping rail currently which include our rebated fence capping, panel capping and Durapost capping rail. The panel capping allows you to secure it to thicker fencing and panels that are denser, thus providing a different option and helping to finish off those fencing panels also. The rebated fence capping is commonly used for fencing such as featheredge and close board where their properties are a little bit thinner, helping to make them more robust and compact. This type of capping rail really helps to drain the water because of the shape and therefore provides increased protection. Then we have our Durapost capping rail which is made from a galvanised steel and finished in an anthracite grey colour. This capping comes with a warranty of up to 25 years meaning an extremely long lifespan and creates the perfect finishing touches with its finish and tones against the timber. This is the number 1 choice for sustainability and helping our environment whilst also implementing a sleek and current design.
Overall, we would strongly recommend capping rail and installing it on your fences. It adds something extra whilst also protecting it from rot and decay thanks to draining the water and not allowing it to sit there.
