FAQs
Product
What is a Lean-To?

A Lean-To is a structure that is installed against a wall from an existing building, typically using rafters/posts.

What is the difference between Pergola and Lean-To?

A Lean-To is installed against a wall of a building, whereas a Pergola is typically free-standing and is supported by 4 posts.

Is your Cedar Featheredge Lean-To weatherproof?

If a weatherproof membrane is used, and adequately maintained with Osmo Oil, our pergolas are weatherproof.

Are the components pressure treated?

Yes! All the components of the pergola are pressure-treated, aside from the roofing (depending on the type you ordered). This is to protect the timber against decay, ensuring longevity.

Do you make bespoke pergolas?

We absolutely do! Just like our gates and fencing, we can make completely bespoke pergolas. If you'd like a quote for your measurements, please contact our Sales team on 01409 231 763 or sales@ruby-group.co.uk.

Can I have a pergola without planning permission?

You can usually build a pergola in your garden without planning permission,as long as you follow permitted development rules. We recommend consulting your local council first, to be sure.

Installation
Does the Lean-To arrive fully assembled?

The Gazebo does not arrive fully assembled; however, we have created in-depth manuals to guide you on assembly - so whether you're a keen DIY enthusiast or a professional fitter, you can construct our pergolas yourself. You can find these manuals on the specification table on each listing.

Are fixings included?

All the fixings needed for installation are included in the delivery of your pergola parts!

Aftercare and Maintenance
Can I paint my pergola?

You can! You can only use water-based paint on our pergolas; however, you will need to ensure the pergola is as dry as possible before painting. We do recommend applying UV protection prior to painting also.

What maintenance is required?

We highly recommend treating your pergola at least every 6 months with Osmo Oil, to protect your gazebo against the elements and against decay. We also recommend checking your pergola every so often and removing any built-up dirt and grime.

How long does your Lean-To's last?

Our Gazebos can last anywhere from 10-20 years if properly maintained.

Delivery
How much is shipping?

Delivery fees may vary depending on your order and location. To check the delivery fee for your purchase, simply proceed to the checkout where it will be calculated for you.

How long will it take to get my order?

The lead time varies depending on the product, and will stated below the pricing of the item for you.

What shipping courier do you use?

We use our own fleet of delivery drivers to ensure the best service! Our drivers are more than happy to leave your goods in a safe place! Your order will be fully trackable, with a 1-hour time slot provided! Our tracking app will allow you to see the progress of the driver throughout the day.

Please Note: *The pergola comes without a waterproof roof membrane so will not be waterproof. If you would like to make it waterproof, you can simply apply a waterproof roof membrane, available here.

Feet and Wall Fixings not included. Lean-tos exceeding 4.2 meters long will be equipped with three front posts, and the ring beams will be divided into two sections. This design decision is intended to minimise the risk of timber sagging due to the extended length.

If the posts are going into ground contact we would always recommend applying Bitumen to the part that is in the ground and sitting just above it. This will help protect timber from rotting.

This product is specifically manufactured upon order placement and falls under our "Made-To-Measure" product range. We encourage you to review our Terms and Conditions (Section 2) before placing an order, as they detail guidance regarding orders, returns, and cancellations for "Made-To-Measure" product range.
