A well-installed side gate is essential for both security and convenience, serving as a practical entryway and a key feature in your property's boundary. This hardware guide will walk you through the essentials of selecting the right hardware for your side gate.
The general rule of thumb with hinges is, with adjustable band and hooks, they need to be at least a 1/3 of the gate width. Whereas with tee hinges, they need to be at least 1/2 the gate width.
Similarly, with posts, we say that a 1/3 of the post needs to be in the ground.
